Stabilizing succulent

We were given a bit of this plant by council workers who were cutting it back from where it was spreading on to a car park. It’s natural habitat is stabilizing the dunes on the Alentejo coast where there is no animal grazing. Today we moved it, simply rolling it up ripping the roots out of the ground and rolling it onto the wheelbarrow. This pic is after unrolling it and throwing some sand (and cats) on top and then hosing it down.
