Sunbird

Back blip due to patch wifi
The early start was pushed back to 7 because of the rain but again well worth going out, down river where we saw numerous birds, monkeys and orangutan nests , the highlight being the Brahminy kite. Seriously we’re turning into , if not bird watchers, certainly bird collectors! Right next to breakfast we saw two stunning sunbird species .
Once back at the lodge, our guide Abbas and I set off to the market as the local orangutan was back. Less foliage so better views :)
Lunch was in a nearby house, cooked by a local family which was delicious and interesting to see inside.
An afternoon at the pool relaxing before our evening cruise . We decided to head back to the Oxbow lake we went to yesterday morning.
A beautiful sunset and lots more new birds, as well as another python, the highlights being the grey headed fish eagle, the red and black broadbill and the blue eared kingfisher, spotted on the overhanging undergrowth at dusk by our sharp eyed captain Moos who can steer and scan with a torch at the same time !
We’ll be sad to leave here but excited to head out on the last part of the trip to the Danum Valley .
