Not much to hold onto

Unlike an escalator where we’re usually advised to hold the handrail for safety, that’s not necessary walking onto the beach. Just as well. When we were kissed by the northern edge of hurricane Ian, a few weeks ago, the extremely high tides pushed tons of sand up the beach, filling the walkway. Those handrails have a whole structure below them and would normally be about waist height. I imagine some city employee will be shoveling some day soon
