Hedgerow Harvest
Most of the apple trees planted as whips in the northern hedge on the Mouselands are tasteless, but just one has nice tangy, crunchy fruit and they are filling the gap between the James Grieves and the Sturmer Pippins which will see us into the New Year. And the horse likes them! The tree has coped with being treated like a hedge tree, rather than suffering our faffy about attempts at proper pruning. Obviously on its own roots and probably not of a recognised variety. Looks like it might keep well, we will see.
