Nicky and her Nikon

Sunlit trees

Last night as I was lying in the bath I heard a thud - it was Gavin, who went out the bedroom onto the tiled landing to get something and slipped on a pool of water. There was a leak, with water pouring out of the fire alarm sensor in the ceiling, and in the dark he had not noticed it. Poor Gavin sprained his hand and it is very blue. We tried to work out where the water was coming from, we could not work it out - eventually the flow of water stopped. By now the alarm was going off and we could not stop it, but we managed to contact a fire alarm engineer who told us how to stop the screeching alarm. We were left with a continuous beep but were told to book an engineer visit the next morning to rectify it. There is always something that needs attention!

This morning I booked the alarm engineer and he was due to come this afternoon, but after lunch he phoned to say he is so busy he cannot get to us before Friday morning or possibly tomorrow afternoon. The beeping is driving me mad, and it must be driving Xena mad as the sound is in the kitchen where she sleeps.

The good news was that it was sunny today - all day! Xena had a sunny walk this morning and another one this afternoon. In between that I went to my ladies golf clinic which was unexpectedly enjoyable with our new coach. Today we worked on putting and chipping and finished by having  a mini competition of closest to the pin. The driving range where we have our lessons is fully automated so you can see on the electronic board where your ball is landing and how far it is from the marker.

Interesting that Sydney has reported 170 days of rain so far this year - and yet people think of London as a rainy city.
