Wednesday: The King’s Representative

I was invited to an investiture ceremony at the Governor-General’s Residence.  It was lovely to see Belizeans receiving MBEs, OBEs etc for community service etc.  This is the entrance to the Governor-General’s, I love that it’s quite low-key.

Tonight we reassuringly saw our security team in action.  Barney had wandered off for a while and we somewhat lost track of him.  We then heard a screechy cat fight going on around the fence perimeter so K went running over as we thought it was Barney.  No sooner had she got there when the night guard, Cab, came running along, saying: ‘Miss K, Miss K, we saw you running on the security monitor.  What is it?  I am ready to defend!’……those were his actual words.  He also had his baton out.  We certainly feel very safe.

Barney was found a couple of minutes later asleep in the undergrowth.
