The Maltings, Newton of Falkland.
A very windy day with gusts of over 45mph. My bins were blown over so I rearranged them with the compost bin taking the brunt of the wind as it's usually the heaviest. Laid the garden table upside down with a couple of containers on top and did my best with the chairs. That was the activity for the day apart from a quick trip to Ladybank. Photographed the Maltings at Newton of Falkland on the way back. They were established in 1600 and remodelled in the early 19th century, and again later in the century, In 1917 there was a fire and a phone message was sent to Cupar for the fire brigade. The “steamer”( a steamer pumped steam to put fires out ), drawn by three horses, left for the scene of the fire, and arrived an hour later when the fire had burnt itself out. The brewery premises were saved and it is now converted into apartments. The sooty roof results from a more recent fire in one of them. I've been passing by and thinking of photographing it for about thirty years but never done it. So today has been the day.
