Ruddy yard gate
I am beginning to not like this gate.
It needs fixing to the rather ropey wall so it can be opened and closed and then opened again without falling off - a basic requirement for a gate - even one that I put on.
However, I thought I would use the original fixings to save time without realising that the original fixings were put on by a knob-head. If I use them, there is no chance that the gate will even be straight - let alone open without ripping the hinges off.
Anyway I have now worked out a compromise where I can use the top one and fix a new bottom one that will be directly below the top one (instead of two inches to the left of the top one)
The problem now is that if I get the gate level using a spirit level, it will look wonky - and that is because everything surrounding it - including the houses - are wonky. I had to take this picture to confirm the fact than there is not a single line anywhere that is plumb. Perhaps the gate needs to be wonky in order to fit in with the surroundings.
Did I mention I am fitting a garden gate....
