Armistice Day

Veterans For Peace 72 (Portland) honors Armistice Day on November 11 at 11 a.m. They ring bells and observe a minute of silence. (Also two Extras.) Normally many more people attend this observance. Today it was cold and windy, threatening rain. Perhaps that kept the numbers down.

"It was during that minute in 1918, that millions upon millions of human beings stopped butchering one another"—Kurt Vonnegut.

Sadly, the butchering began again and continues, and many US veterans are now houseless and criminalized for their poverty.
