Armistice Day

Our original plan today was to take the bus into town and, as we did last year, pay our respects at the war memorial in front of Cheltenham’s Municipal Building on The Promenade.

Unlike last year, there was a 3 Day race meeting at Prestbury Park ( Cheltenham Race Course) beginning today. Buses diverted. Traffic chaos!

We abandoned Cheltenham for Pershore. At 11 am we stood by this memorial, which we visited for the first time last Sunday.

Today in Pershore there was no ceremony. Just a handful of people, guided by their smartphone clocks to stand in respectful silence for two minutes and then quietly disperse. It was an extremely poignant commemoration.

Last Sunday, T’s passport photo was taken in a Photo Booth in Pershore. Today, 5 days later her new blue passport arrived through our letterbox. Proof of two things. 1. The post Brexit passport is a shadow of its former burgundy EU one. 2. Whatever delays there might have been in the U.K. Passport Agency they are clearly all sorted now.
