Lala's Journal

In the culpeper garden.

Back to my old phone, and it has proved the problem doesn’t lie with the sim. The phone rang and pinged with messages all day and had 4g in the office.I had forgotten to back up my audio book, so drove to work with the radio, which I managed for half the journey, but I still don’t like it and turned it off.

I met Sam for a coffee. We discussed the work problems, he’s so unhappy. There are just two people in his department now, there used to be five and whilst it doesn’t explain all the mistakes, it’s certainly responsible for some. We worked out a plan, and I’ve sent an email so we’ll see if it helps. We’ve known each other for around 12 years, and shared an office for some of that time, so know each other well. Fifteen months ago, his pregnant wife caught Covid and for several weeks it was touch and go for her and baby. There was a happy ending though and Baby has just had his first birthday. We shared some personal stuff, and we both cried, which was a surprise, but good to share.

I came home to a letter from the funeral directors inviting me and any other family members to a service of remembrance in December, where they will read out the names of all the people who have passed and put their name on a Christmas tree. It was a quandary! Should I? Shouldn’t I? Did I want to? The reality is that I am an atheist, but is it right not to go? The boys pinged the question back at me! If you want to Mum, we’ll go with you! In the end I relied on what B would say, so won’t be going. We are not likely to forget him just because his name is not on a tree!
