An Eclectic Garden Endeavor.

We went to the farmer's market this morning with Dana and Jim and Will who is up from Santa Barbara for the weekend. We were quite jammed into our little car but we're all friends, and Will was happy to be our chauffeur. There were fewer stalls as the veggie offerings decrease, but there are still enchiladas, freshly made crepes, oranges, Dana's favorite coffee, persimmons and lots of squash and beets.

My mission was to visit the stall with the laser carved metal objects with an interest in buying one to put on the newly rebuilt gate between our driveway and Janet and Paul's field next door. The trees were intricate and beautifully cut, two from what turned out to be the hoods of old trucks and my favorite metal one, all of which turned out to be too big for our space.

There is quite a bird theme in our garden so perhaps it isn't surprising that these wings caught my eye. A conversation with Joshua, the eclectic garden artist ensued...I took this picture, Joshua gave us his card, and we turned to leave, saying that we would look at the gate, which was only rebuilt last week. He also had some similar wings on a stand which were kinetic and moved in the wind, but I liked the simplicity of these.

I don't know what happened, but as I turned I pulled something in my hip and could barely walk back to the car.  When Dana and Jim returned, they were laden with flowers, wreaths and bags of oranges and squash. . Not wanting to walk any forther, explorations around the market were not appealing, so I sat in the car while John went back for the enchiladas. I forgot to buy granola but maybe Peter will make some...Good thing we didn't buy the wings on the spot, as Jim would have had to ride home on the top of the car!

The design of the gate has changed and it is slanted at the angle of the hill, so we decided to put the wings on the fence in the fire garden instead. I have left a message for Joshua who said he could put hooks on the back of the wings for us and we can pick them up next week.

I have now done some exercises and am turning very gingerly and carefully, but seem to have recovered.
