From a distance and beyond the scaffolding, managed to squeeze a little of Canterbury Cathedral in.
Day out to see Daisy and get my fix of her before Christmas. The Worthing to Canterbury drive never varies, two hours and five (!) motorways door to door. Obvs not today as roadworks had closed an important junction and I had to drive a right old wriggle round.
However, arrived, inspected Daisy’s new home (since July, not really new). They have gone for cheaper this year rather than nice but seem to be managing ok, her bedroom is beautifully organised and spic and span and she tries hard with the rest of the house while refusing to clear up after people. We had plans for light shopping and lunch. Unfortunately, along with the rest of Kent! The roads were mainly gridlocked, parking elusive and, when we finally got there, the actual shops heaving. It didn’t actually bother me a jot though, I had only come to spend time with Daisy so didn’t care if that was in the car or anywhere else.
In the end had a wander round, spot of lunch at Bills, bought her and Toby a pile of echinacea and vitamin C for their constant colds, went to Daisy’s favourite shop and bought her and Will Christmas presents. And generally got all caught up. Then to Aldi to get her weekly shop then big hugs and i left, congratulating myself for it taking two years but i don’t routinely cry when I say goodbye anymore. Took the wrong turn in my wriggle through getting home. The driving has been quite annoying today.
