The apple tree

The tree had already been pruned to this, in my opinion, lovely shape when we bought the house. One year when the children were small and my husband had been away on a conference, he came back very early in the morning on Easter Monday and attached Easter eggs to the bare branches. It was quite a sight that neither my children not the French guests who were staying with us ever forgot!
