EAGS

Oi!

This is mum, known here as EAGS. Sadly she passed away peacefully today following a brief illness.

Although she hasn't been active on Blip for a while now she logged on almost daily to catch up, passing hearts and stars along the way. She loved seeing your images and reading about your days. It brought her such great pleasure. With me having recently visited both Australia and New Zealand she was always on the look out for places I'd been. Miffy, no matter how many times I explained to her that I never made it up as far as your neck of the woods, it never stopped her asking if I'd been here, there and everywhere.

Thanks to Jen and Diane for their own wee Blip tributes to mum. We were so touched. x

I thought a while about which image to post for this last entry and I finally decided upon this one, a shot taken from her beloved Largs at the end of June 2020, and one of the last times we took the cameras out together. I'd lost my mojo long before and mum was still very much grieving for dad who'd passed at Christmastime but we took our cameras out for a wee trek to the marina, site of the historic Battle of Largs in 1263, commemorated by "The Pencil" monument that an be seen in the background and one of her favourite places to stroll along the shore. As you can see, it was a typical summers day on the Clyde coast and in spite of the ignominious title, at the time I was being the dutiful son warning her that the slip was, well slippy and to be careful - obviously, still with my camera to my eye! She'd kill me if she knew I posted it but its one of those off guard moments I loved to shoot, but seldom did and a behind the lens shot that I'm sure every blipper can identify with.

I've also included the other shot that made the shortlist in the extras. It's one of my all time favourite shots of mum and dad, at a friends wedding in the mid to late 60's (I did ask mum several times - I should have taken notes). I always referred to it as her Elizabeth Taylor look, very glamorous! And don't you think dad's got Dirty Harry down pat, right down to the scowl - and this was definitely before Eastwood. Do you feel lucky... pal? (definitely the Scots translation; punk is way to American)!

Together forever now mum. xxx We all love you and miss you both. x
