They know; they were, after all, one of the foremost synthesizer composers. If they only gave us the sublime soundtrack to TRON, that would have been enough. But they gave us so much more.

I tried to think of a piece of music that encapsulates Wendy Carlos' quote. I came up with a few pieces, most of them by the same artist, an artist of the electronic realm with a similar classical, scientific background (his mentors included Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry.).

I'm going to go with this piece; extremely simple, predictable, but to appreciate the incredible artistry you have to listen very closely on good quality equipment. I always hated it as a youngster; it was only as an adult that I came to love it.
