Foiled again

Last year slugs and snails attacked my pot of herbs so much that I keep it on top of a garden bin.
This snail made a heroic attempt to get to it,must have taken all night to climb up to the top of the bin. I spotted it just before it started the final assault on some nice juicy parsley,mint,chives and basil.
As it had come so far,I spared it the traditional fate ( chucking it over the fence into next door's garden ! ),and deposited it in a far corner. But it had better not try that again.
