Trough

I saw this roadside water trough just outside Allendale Town. I think it may have had a spout at some point (note the four holes in the stone near the hole) but now appears unused. The trough was dry and surprisingly clean and that along with the two planters makes me think someone still cares for it. I wonder whether the hole still delivers water during wet times because it looks like water has left it’s mark on the stone. If served by a spring I think it would run all the time because there is a big hill behind it.
