Drama in the wood!

Sunday 13th November 2022               (backblip)

Had a bad night ..... slept about 3 hours then just kept dozing for about 20 minutes at a time.

Both Hubby & I feel as if we have been kicked by a mule ..... we ache all over! Assume it's a side effect from the covid booster yesterday .... had Pfizer combination vaccine this time.

A grey start to the day but it did try to brighten up mid afternoon so we decided to go for a short walk toddle.

Great timing for the drama that was about to unfold!

As we were walking past the little wood we noticed a cat stalking something .... we assumed probably a bird. No ..... it had spotted a young Muntjac!

All of a sudden the cat charged .... the young deer let out piercing screams & ran off with the cat in pursuit!

Then from across the road Mama Muntjac came like a rocket & chased the cat!

The cat ran & cowered up a tree ..... left image is mama standing looking up at it!

The standoff lasted a few minutes then the cat shot out of the tree & ran away!

Mama Muntjac then turned & began calling to her youngster ...... she kept calling for what seemed like ages ..... then suddenly stopped!

We hope/assume that this meant that they had been reunited as the insistence of her barking call made us believe she wouldn't have stopped calling otherwise.

We did have a wander round the wood but there was no sign of them ... hopefully they found somewhere safe :-)

Apologies for the quality of the images but it all happened quite a distance away, deep in the wood!
