An Airborne Act Of Remembrance

My brother was so relieved that today was finally Friday. He's been having a really tough time lately with work and his commuting up to London. There's been rail strikes, cancelled trains, dirty trains, trains with no working toilets or running water (the privilege for which he pays over £400O a year), incidents on the line and even a bridge strike.
On one day earlier this week all the passengers on his train on the way home were told to get off the train and leave the station at Bromley due to an incident on the line with no information as to what they were supposed to do or when the trains would start running again. There were no taxis available, he didn't know any of the bus routes and thought he might even have to stay the night there - he made enquiries at some hotels but they were all fully booked. Thankfully the trains did start running again but he didn't get home until 9.30 and he was utterly exhausted.
On top of that he's inundated at work and his boss is a complete a**hole. So to say he was relieved it's Friday is an understatement. When he got off the train tonight he had the first smile I've seen on his face all week. We then headed to King & Queen for a pint on the way home - he could finally relax and just switch off for a couple of days at least.
Today's images were taken across the road from the King & Queen - there's a post box and a little wooden bus stop that are all always adorned or decorated to mark specific events or occasions, which have recently included the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the passing of the Queen and in this instance to commemorate the forthcoming Remembrance Day.
The main image is the top of the post box with this crocheted Spitfire which even includes a pilot with a mop of grey hair and a bushy moustache. The extra is the bus stop with its fine display of poppies.

I love finding new music. After reading an article about them in a magazine I listened to a couple of tracks by the French pop band Phoenix. One is called "Winter Solstice" a contemplative, introspective and poetic song about the passing of time and the fracturing of relationships (sounds a bit heavy but it's not), the other is called "Alpha Zulu" and is almost the complete opposite with bucketloads of fizz and sparkle - you can find a brilliantly inventive accompanying video on you tube.
