The Dunnock

AKA the hedge sparrow. I was only saying the other day how i missed the incessant cheeping of the one-time common house sparrow. Living now as i do in sleepy Pembrokeshire, House sparrows are not common. Found mostly near or around farm buildings. There, unlike modern housing, nest building areas are a plenty. That and a regular and ample food supply can be found.
I was once again, in my front garden sat quietly behind my long lens in my wheelchair, dressed in a T-shirt (in November) when, creeping along our fence came a Dunnock. Shy, yet fierce looking birds, there presence as a ground feeder is most welcome.
I took this photo as he/she (no idea how to ID one) ran along the fence, searching for food, and heading toward a scattering of sunflower kernels left by me in a familiar and regular feeding area.
