Dashed around in the morning trying to get last few things for the holiday, then collected V and we set off south.
Gorgeous weather as we left Edinburgh but after stopping for some soup at Soutra cafe the mist/fog descended. We stopped at A&N’s to let V see their house then drove on through beautiful countryside. The sun kept breaking through and the beech hedges were glowing with colour-lovely!
Drove down some tiny lanes and arrived at Kielder reservoir and forest just as dusk was falling. A great place, with cosy wee log cabins and there were lots of fairy lights up around the reception area and lakeside bar. Apparently they’re preparing for opening a winter wonderland event starting this weekend…looking magical.
After a wander round to get our bearings we settled into the cabin and I heated up the fish pies for supper then we settled down to watch one of the films V had brought with her and had a jolly evening with G&Ts and some chocolate. Heaven!
