Lichens

I enjoyed all your responses to the Word Blip. I agree that ICONIC is overused.
And I forgot to mention STUNNING. Once or twice my Blips have been so described. But I doubt the author of the comment was laying on the ground unconscious.

Last week I went to a natural history double lecture. The first half was on Bryophites ( Mosses and Liverworts ) and the second half was on Lichens.
The slightly esoteric nature of the subject did not prevent us from getting our usual large attendance.

I found the Lichens especially interesting but I need another lifetime to really learn about them.

Here, however, is one on rocks by the shore as found on my walk this afternoon.
