Buchanan Street, Glasgow (Back Blip for yesterday)
I didn’t get round to Blipping yesterday.
After a 4 hour train journey from Airdrie to Hellifield - via Carlisle and Lancaster I was tired when I got home then had to deal with someone who was trying to scam me, pretending he was my son! Whoever it was must have found the phone that Marc had lost and was somehow able to read previous messages he had sent me. All a bit creepy! The worrying bit is that I almost fell for it until I saw the spelling mistakes and the amount he wanted me to lend him - £650 for a new phone! My son would never ask for so much - I’ve lent him the odd £50 and he pays me it back. When I asked which bank account this money was to be paid into the person said they’d had to close their account but had a new one with Monza bank. When I got wise I asked the person to tell me the name of the dog we had when he was little and the name of his favourite teacher in primary school. No reply!
It’s the first time a scammer has tried to get me and it shook me up a bit.
Be wary out there folks!
Anyway, I wrote this poem after walking down one steepish hill and then further down onto Buchanan St (extra) to get to Central Station.

Glas Gu
I was walking down Buchanan St,
taking in the atmosphere.
So many shoppers, buskers,
people out for a wander,
shops, cafés and pubs packed out.
I could hear the banter, while
addicts and homeless folk
begged for a pound
from their cardboard beds.
Then I got to thinking about this city
and how it must have been
a couple of thousand years ago
Before it was all built up,
before it was littered
with takeaway cups and cans,
when it was all hills and valleys,
trees, grass, heather and bracken.
It was ‘The Green Place’
Or ‘Glas Gu’ in those days,
a small fishing community.
St Mungo came along in 6 AD
and built his small church there,
where now the Cathedral stands.
Slowly, the small settlement grew
and joined up with others,
eventually over the centuries
becoming this sprawling city
with its magnificent architecture.
And here I am now,
walking down those hills
into the valley
that is now
Glasgow.

The train home was crowded and quite noisy.
When I arrived home the house was empty as Frank was at choir and Tonya and Yurii were at their English class in Skipton.
There were two vases of lovely roses form Frank for our anniversary last week. When Tonya and Yurii came home they gave us a lovely card, a pretty scarf for me and some curry spices for Frank.
Also there was a lovely card and letter from my friend Alison - Blipper Greengirl.
I am truly blessed!
It has poured down all day today and feels more like Autumn now. Much as I love the sun and warm temperature I like the seasons to be at the proper times, not the global warming times!
Now I’ll have to think of a Blip for today!
