A view from Jeanneb

A moment of brightness

The rain had stopped this morning but it was damp and gloomy.
A little later it was looking brighter and this little Rowan tree, planted in lockdown, stood out in it’s autumn glory in the corner of the front garden. ( The green Laurel behind isn’t ours and could do with cutting back)

It has produced masses of flowers in spring and this lovely autumn leaf colour for two years now but there have been very few berries. When we left last week the leaves were still green and I don’t think these red ones will last for long so I decided it to use it for my blip today.
By lunchtime it was raining again!

Last night I couldn’t resist looking at our Madeira photos from 1978. I knew I had an horrendous curly perm at the time - remember those!  Didn’t realise how thin I was and how many teeth I seemed to have (must have grown into them). Chris, by contrast, was looking pretty good.

I’ve shown us on the Monte toboggan in the extra. Evidence that as we’d thought, the track was cobbled then, tarmac now. Also there were Ox carts in the centre of Funchal offering to take people on a tour around the town. The surprise was an air letter (not a post card) showing our hotel from the ocean. I’d forgotten I had it. It looks to be standing almost alone at the top of the cliff, now we could barely find it as it has been overwhelmed by a phenomenal amount of building in the intervening years.
Interesting to look back. With only a 126 cassette film of 24 it was amazing how many pictures we had taken of each other!
