Earlier this year we considered getting an electric vehicle charger fitted to the front of the house for guests, especially as the government will, at last, chuck in thruppence ha'penny for business customer installations.

There's a bit of, ahem, supply and demand economics going on, and a net price of £2,000+ turned us off the idea quite quickly.

So, as we do get the occasional request to charge cars over a weekend, we got the electrician to install an extra 13A socket in an accessible location and to put a small meter in line with it so we can see exactly how much has been used and charge (yeah) accordingly.
