Skye - Day 3 - The Old Man of Storr
When we discussed where to go today for the morning shoot, we immediately thought of the Old Man of Storr. Of course we knew we had to do quite a bit of climbing to get there and we decided to take our time and get up at 5.00 AM, for a bit of breakfast and a drive which would mean we would get to the parking at 6.00. Once we started our walk, we found out that the shortest route is closed. We therefore had to walk quite a bit further, but for the first part this meant that the ascend was more gradual.
We made it up to the viewpoint about half an hour before sunrise. We didn't get any direct sunlight on the scene, but I'm pleased with what we did get. The way back down was a bit more adventurous than planned, to say the least, but we made it back in one piece.
After doing some groceries we arrived back at our cottage, to find out that the power was out. This turned out to be a planned outage, but we were unaware of it. It didn't matter much. We could still enjoy some lunch, albeit without a bowl of hot soup.
In the afternoon we visited two locations with the Cuillin as a backdrop. The first was Loch nan Eilean (see extra) and the second was the series of waterfalls at Allt Dearg Mor (two more extras).
When we returned, the power was back (the outage was scheduled until four 'o clock). Herman cooked a delicious dinner and after that it was time to do some post processing on the images we shot today.
The weather forecasts for Friday and Saturday don't look good; let's see what we will be able to do.
