If you can't stand the heat, escape to the kitchen. 

Our little bungalow is bijou and snug. 

The 7 kW log burner is a stonker and pumps out some heat. We have not had to have the gas central heating on since we started lighting the fire. The kitchen is warm and the thermostat in the hall shows 20c.

My grandad was a stoker in the navy during the war. I have a lot of sympathy with him. It must have been hellish..
