Holes in the wall

Unsuccessful excursion to town in search of some flexible duct for the extract fan.
Took the plunge and cut two exploratory holes in the wall which revealed the solid wall is 215 mm from the plasterboard face and just where the studs are. No wonder that the screws weren't long enough would have needed to be 10 in. / 250mm long.
Mainly dull and wet out there had a coffee and snack at the garden centre.
Supermarket on the way back.
