...and still it rained
So the Alyth burn was in spate after 36 hours of steady heavy rain. The bridge repairs that we completed a couple of years ago looked as strong as ever (main picture). Then there was a knock at the door last night at around 10pm, and it turned out to be a Tesco Delivery driver who had been following his GPS but ignoring the fact that he was on an unlit dirt track, rather than on a main road.
He managed to get across the bridge after descending a steep muddy hill, but was unable to get up the other side. Without a towing eyelet for his vehicle, we were unable to provide any assistance so it was abandoned for the night. We expect a recovery vehicle to appear in due course, but the rain is still pelting down and much of the surrounding area is flooded.
