View From The 23rd Floor
The last couple of weeks has been so busy and so blip has gone by the wayside, but I thought I would post a longer update to make up for it, plus a couple of significant photos representing the reason things suddenly became much busier!
First of all, after nearly a year of looking for a condominium in downtown Fort Worth (US name for an appartment or flat that you purchase rather than rent), we found one! Things then moved quickly as we needed to make an offer to secure it given the fact that previous candidates were sold quickly. This led to our offer being accepted and a contract in place. We are going to be able to close on this on December 15th, but was are also having to work hard to achieve our downsizing of belongings from the existing house so we can have it on the market before the end of November. The new place is on the 23rd floor of a the most central condominium high rise in Fort Worth, 2 minutes walk from BG downtown and a similar distance from the Fort Worth Symphony hall. We are looking forward to a new era of downtown living! Photo of view from our balcony overlooking the courthouse and in the distance the Trinity River.
Second up in the latest busy developments is my application to study for a Masters degreee at Brite Divinity School, an affiliate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. The decision to do this was borne out of a desire to go deeper in studying many new perspectives I have developed over the past few years and to keep my ageing brain active. In order to qualify for admission for 2023, I had to provide application, essays, 4 references and my University transcript from 1978! And all that within a week. As it turned out, the transcript was the most challenging. Despite the usual lead time for a copy being 10 to 15 days, University of Kent pulled out the stops and provided a pdf copy by email within 24 hours, which was very impressive. Anyway, yesterday saw me on Zoom with the head of admissions for an hour and half interview and today the Admissions board meet to decide on those who have applied. I await their decision.
So apart from busily selling items and throwing out all those things that we had previously said 'Oh, I'll probably want to do something with that sometime...' and realise that we haven't touched them for seven years! So that's the update and the reason why blip has been taking a back seat!
