Flower Friday : : Pink Roses

I'm lucky that I have a husband who brings me flowers...
I like to put them on the little table opposite the front door. It has a mirror over it so I photographed these from the side. The background is a bit cluttered, but it was either that or me and my camera in the mirror. I fetched down my prize glass vase from the mantel because it is one of the few containers I have with a wide mouth that would accommodate the long stems. And although I love it on the mantel, it IS after all a vase and shouldn't be treated like a friend's sofa that was always covered  by a sheet!

A full complement at coffee again this morning and we had wide ranging conversations about driveway repairs, biodegradable laundry soap, the complexities of recycling, the complexities of aging and dogs. Maggie was house sitting and brought the resident dog, Sadie a shi tzu mix. Once he realized she was there, Spike greeted her with civility but she turned her back on him and pretended he wasn't there!

As we were leaving, a musician who was setting up his equipment to play asked me something about whether were friends or a  work group. I explained that we had all met in a Pilates class and had been meeting every Friday morning for coffee for many years. I said I hoped we hadn't been in his way, and he said, 'oh no I don't play until 11 but I guess I got here early.' He went on to say rather wistfully, I thought, how nice it was to be part of a group and how it kept one from feeling isolated. I felt a bit sorry for him and realized, belatedly, that I should have asked him to join us.

Peter came by today to clean our solar panels which, like our house had become very dusty. We promised to send him comparative readings from the app that keeps track of our solar battery storage. I asked him how the job search was going and he said he has decided to accept a teaching internship to become a math teacher. He was fed up with sending out resumes and not  getting any kind of response from most of the recipients. I'm proud of him for figuring out what he wanted to do. He will be a great teacher....

Table runner is taking shape, but I think I will have to turn my attention to the meal preparations before I finish it.
