Chequerboard?

Members of the Bonfire Society were out (under grey skies) early this morning to re-turf the patch on The Green where this year's fire had been. The result - seen here under a patch of blue sky that appeared mid-morning - is the wonderful 'chequerboard' pattern you see here.

If past years are anything to go by, it won't take long for this (and the grass seed that was also sown around The Green this morning) to completely cover all trace of this year's event.
