Copley Viaduct
SATURDAY
I was up just after 7:00 am and, after a cappuccino and a bowl of cereal, I put on two layers of running gear and headed out into the cold.
It was sunny when I left home and headed down though North Dean Woods to Copley and then along the canal towpath to Sowerby Bridge, then back along the Calder and Hebble navigation to Salterhebble Basin and then to Clay House and home to a hot shower and more breakfast. The sun had disappeared and it was drizzling for the final 2 km.
I covered 10 km in 1:04:26 at a pace of 6.25 /km
I was quite warm at the end of the run but the central heating has been on for quite a while today.
The photo was taken as I ran through Copley Cricket Club grounds. The viaduct is a Grade II listed structure. The viaduct takes the railway over the River Calder and the canal. It consists of 21 arches at a height of 20 m. It was originally built for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway in 1852 and designed by Sir John Hawkshaw.
Oh and it looks like an air fryer has just been delivered this afternoon. Does anyone have any tips on using them?
