No place like home..
Last month I wrote a little blip on "home" and I realize that my thoughts on what it is, what it means to me, and its relativity to "place" are always changing. So rather than "home" being a finite noun it's more like an abstract concept, one that I'm learning travels with me. As I walked down 5th today, however, seeing the Washington Square arch brought on a definite sense of home: memories of my first days at NYU, using the park as a reference point to get back to our apartment; of tanning in the grass (not topless, Dad, I swear!) sophomore year; of junior year, stopping to watch the hippies dancing and wishing I could be so free; and of senior year, jumping into the fountain after graduation in the park. So many more memories of a landmark that definitely feels like "home" to my heart.
