Where did all the Siskins go?

...now I know.

I had noticed their numbers had reduced and I think this is maybe the reason why. The Sparrowhawk has been coming to our garden quite a bit recently. I think the lack of leaves on the trees means there is nowhere to hide for the smaller birds, so it is catching quite a few.

A little sad to see the little birds being caught, but it is the way of nature and this bird is spectacular to watch.
