Oil and Water

... don't mix ... but make interesting patterns.

I was reminded of this technique by one of my photo mags, so had a play today.  The article also recommended adding some washing-up liquid to the mix which may be why some of the oil bubbles are tending to look like soap bubbles. Memo to self: maybe not so much of the concentrated washing-up liquid :-D
