Signs of former days

I hadn’t noticed this sign before - not sure if it’s just recently been uncovered.  Sending a text message was slightly more complicated in days gone by, but it worked. I only ever remember telegrams as things that got read out at weddings. Otherwise, I associate them as bearers of bad news during WWI.
