Tūmai twilight

We bought the most easterly section at Tūmai farm park mainly and designed our house mainly for an uninterrupted view of the sea and coast.  Floor to ceiling windows delivered on that score.  But as we settled into that landscape, we became enthralled by the subtlety of the landscapes and colours in the exact opposite direction – the west view to a line of small mountains that I showed in a Blip called “Greener Pastures” on 6th November. The light in that image was pretty dull (a downside of the Blip itch to post something each day).

Here then is another image of the mountain chain in the twilight, this time using Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) to smear the forms and colours together.  I guess that lots of Blips featuring spectacular vibrant Tūmai sunsets will follow, but it’s the softer and subtle tones on duller evenings that move me most, especially when with a single malt whiskey to mark the sinking of the day. For me, ICM helps express a mellow softness of nature in a calm mood.
