Keynote

So today was the start of the big event, AdobeMAX, as the image says, The Creativity Conference. That's kind of new, it was more technology and development, now they are simply focussed on creative, using Adobes many tools of course.

I'm here again as "press" writing an article for a magazine I contribute to, and attending conference as press is pretty nice. Special wifi, a room to hang out in, pretty well everything paid for, including many lovely dinners. You also get preferential seating in the venues, which is great when there are 5000 people attending!

Very busy day, but the keynote was of course the big deal. And kind of a big deal indeed. Adobe announced they are renaming the "Creative Suite" products to "Creative Cloud" and ditching their perpetual licensing model (and boxed product) to just selling their services as a monthly subscription (cloud based) service. That basically means, that instead of paying $2000 for some software that you use for a few years, and then pay a bunch ore money to upgrade, they instead will only offer a $50/mth subscription, and you get everything and get it updated frequently.

Some people will love it, many won't. From our companies perspective, if we move, and we probably will, it will cost us more money. But, everyone would be using the same version and we'd have a lot more software available. Will be an interesting decision.

Oh, and I got a mention on the Herald website, Nice ;-)
