Crosby Stills and Nash Concert
I got the wonderful opportunity to attend the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall concert of David Crosby, Graham Nash and Steven Stills along with James Raymond playing many of their songs through the years from early Buffalo Springfield, onward to songs from today. There were many old favorites and several moving political activist songs about peace, ending war and the freeing of Tibet. (Graham , who had written the song about Burning for the Buddha shared that 128 Tibetan monks have died from self immolation protesting the domination by China of Tibet. It is so tragic and wrong of China to take away the Tibetan culture and enslave the people and eradicate their lives and ways.) It was a rousing concert and made me wish I had a more sophisticated camera with a better zoom. We were in the 8th row, so it was not far, but still not an intimate shot. The crowd was enthusiastic and we all sang along and shared a wonderful camaradarie of long time fans for some great musicians. Steven Stills is a great guitar player, David Crosby and Graham Nash's voices were still strong. They ended the concert with the touching Teach Your Children...and I cried, It was so touching to see the audiance knowing the song so well and singing along louder than the performers. The group put in their two cents about paying teachers what they are worth rather than the little they receive for the important job they do. They put on a great show! It was just superb! I loved the travel through time musical journey the show took you on.
