Cycling

The long bike ride had to be shortened by 20 kilometres because of a flat tire and what else can go wrong.
We left the house no earlier than half past ten. I had to do the weekly shopping and we had an appointment with the home decorator for he had to measure the windows to make custom blinds.

After exactly 40 kilometres, Bert got a flat tire. The cause was one of the three pieces of glass we found in the tire. Without a tub of water around the neck to make it clearly visible, we succeeded using a method that cannot be mentioned. Bert panicked slightly because it was getting later, I really needed to go to the toilet and we hadn't eaten yet. the nipple inside the valve came bent out of the clamp of the bicycle pump. We couldn't close it properly and the tire was constantly deflating.
Finally we managed to push the nipple back into the valve in a perfectly airtight way.
We decided to cycle the most convenient way home. Fortunately there was a bakery with a restaurant and toilet. open, where we enjoyed a short lunch.

We arrived home just after sunset. We wouldn't have made it 20 kilometres more in daylight.
