First of Advent

Is coming up and people are making or buying advents wreaths and decorations.
No one is talking about Thanksgiving, that holiday is unknown here.
But as they here in Germany love to take over all the capitalist events that could increase the economic gains, they took over the “Black Friday” but call it “black offer”
which makes not much sense…
But, I never understood why Americans speak of a Black Friday anyway…
