What did I see today...?

Palas de Rei - Melide - Ribadiso

A dry, misty start to the day as we left Palas de Rei - no more rain, but definite signs of what had come before us in the path. This was only about twenty minutes into the day's walk - we started on the other side and crossed by various means - the part where the stepping stones had disintegrated and flooded out was quite fun!

The midway point for today was the town of Melide, famed for having a medieval bridge, the oldest cross on the Camino and most importantly (from the point of view of my and Mark's stomachs) its pulpo dishes. Mentioned by Pepe in the bar the night before, he mentioned a specific restaurant La Garnacha which apparently served the best octopus in Spain - well, we had to check it out. We did, and as you can tell from Mark's Blip below, we were not disappointed (I AlterBlipped mine as well!)

On a remarkably full stomach the rest of the day turned into an amble through a series of river valleys beneath blue skies and the sun, ending up in the picturesque hamlet of Ribadiso. Once again we stayed in the government Xunta, dining in the restaurant they owned next door (more delicious food) and generally relaxing by the river.
