…for Fürstenberg, a village on the upper river Weser, and the porcelain factory, founded in 1747 by the Duke Karl of Braunschweig (Brunswick). The design of the factory’s signature has changed over the centuries, and this plate offers a compilation. The picture in the centre is a reproduction of Matthäus Merian’s copper engraving of the place. This plate is another heirloom from my late father to whom it was given in his time as a trade school teacher in the 1970s.
