Keeping watch

This male Egyptian Goose aggressively watches from the roof over his goslings in the yard below.  No other birds are allowed on the roof - guinea fowl, hadedas. doves usually congregate there too. I'm amazed at the length of time he stands there. I must go and see how the babies are growing.
I had such a wonderful surprise last night - I was chatting to daughter Penni in New York...I asked her what she was doing for Christmas and she said she was booked to fly home to be with us. She's been booked for some time and was going to surprise us, but couldn't keep it a secret any longer!   She arrives in two weeks time and we are so excited. Christmas will be so much better now.
