The Rideau Centre is less opulent than it sounds

Having managed to break my glasses over the weekend, I decided to treat myself to a trip downtown so I could get them repaired. And then, as I was there, I popped into the Rideau Centre, formerly Ottawa's flagship shopping experience and now, well, not.

It's really grotty to be honest. I am not sure it has recovered from the years of work on Rideau Street and the  three-week occupation by a gang of dickheads in January. There are still some nice bits to it though - but you have to look.
