Talofa....

Although I have been to New Zealand on four occasions, I only ever visited Polynesia once. I spent twelve days at a conference in Samoa in the 1980's. The people are magnificently hospitable.

"Talofa" is the Samoan greeting. Talofa is short for 'Si o ta alofa atu,' -- which means, 'I am happy and delighted to give you my love.' When you respond, 'Talofa lava!' you are reciprocating with a full grant of your love and affection.
