Flower & Fabric Festival

There is a Flower & Fabric Festival on in Paisley Abbey from today until Saturday 11th May, 10am - 4pm
This is being held in celebration of the Abbey's 850 years, the Abbey Stitchers have been busy at work for some time creating a selection of striking and interesting quilts and hangings which are displayed alongside floral art arrangements.

A group from Houston Kirk went along this morning and had a very enjoyable visit and loved looking at all the beautiful work.

Tea/coffee and a Danish Pastry was enjoyed afterwards and it was very reasonable at £2 and the pastry was delicious and think I had 3 cups of tea..could have been 4

Description of today's blip form information at the side of the display

The starting point was the Art & Crafts Lectern and theme of bread & wine
The background fabric was a splendid start to the hanging.
Transfer paints ironed onto imitation silk created the vine leaves and grasses. The shapes were then padded and stitched giving them texture. Wheat shapes were bonded to the background and embellished with Tulip paint stitching

If you are nearby the Festival is well worth a visit as the Abbey is in the Centre of Paisley, not far from train station and there is parking nearby

Nearly forgot there are also some paintings to look at as well
