The Marin II
This time, on a bike that worked! Was so much better than last time. Up at 9, then off for the great breakfast at the Apline café in town, then headed off on the train.
It's a demanding 25km of up and down, and was damn tough but fun as anything. Love bombing it down tracks in the middle of forests to shoot over jumps, get air, and the constant fear that you're going to fall off and hurt yourself really badly. I managed to stay on the right side of that feeling, but Doug managed to fall off twice, and the second time bloodied his knee up, but could still manage the ride.
Didn't get any good shots, just this screen grab from a video I took of Doug going down a hill. Walking. After telling me about the time his girlfriend did the same thing in south Wales. ha!
Had a funny altercation with a very grumpy walker who had seen a no cycling sign on the path we were on, and started to spraff shite about respect for people and walkers in my face. I politely pointed out that we were on a marked and internationally known mountain bike trail, and that the sign was there to stop bikes from coming the other way and causing a fast head on collision. He didn't take kindly to this. Anyway, when he passed the sign informing him of his mistake, I called out and asked for an apology, and got a finger in it's place. I say, some people. Tsk.
Once home, Doug headed back to Bath, and I headed into work to weave the willow den back into shape before the sun fell to low.
